The Look See 2011 exhibition wrapped up at Watt Space Gallery on Sunday and a great many showed up to see the show on it’s last day. We’d like to thank all those involved for their time and effort.

The First Session of Look Hear 2011

There was no shortage of insight, inspiration and good old fashioned advice from all presenters on the opening night of Look Hear. Pip let us in on a little something called The Loop – a network by designers for designers which links creative folk to each other and to dream jobs. The very talented, groovy sisters from High Tea showed us that hard work, persistence and attention to craftwork can lead to superfine threads whilst Beastman inspired us to walk to our own beat.

Look See 2011 opening night

The Look See 2011 opening night brought Secret Wars to Newcastle for the very first time last night to help us celebrate our ever-expanding art scene. Houl and Sprinkles put up a mean fight, but Malade won on home turf. Great job guys!

Beastman wall at watt space

One of our Look Hear speakers will be leaving his mark on Newcastle. As part of the Look See exhibition, Beastman will be painting a wall at Watt Space Gallery. If you come by at the right time, you might even be lucky enough to catch him in the act!

Even in the middle of winter, things are heating up in the countdown to Look Hear. There’s so much going on we’re buying the day-to-a-page diaries! We’ve just announced 4 new speakers and judged submissions for Look See 2011 – take a look at the artists in this year’s line-up! We’ve also revealed who will be battling it out at the first Secret Wars tournament to take place in Newcastle.

Look Hear AFTERGLOW sessions

Because we find it hard to say goodbye, we’re stretching the Look Hear nights out a bit longer with the Afterglow Sessions. The Afterglow Sessions give you a chance to have a bite to eat and a drink with the Look Hear speakers. Tickets are $10 which includes entry to the Afterglow to be held at The Silo Bar, on Newcastle’s Honeysuckle harbour. Drinks and meals to be purchased separately. SECRET WARS at Look See

We’re bringing Secret Wars, Australia to Newcastle for their first ever Newcastle battle on Look See’s opening night, Friday 5th August.

Secret Wars is the world’s premiere live art battle with current series’ being held in Melbourne and Sydney and featuring artists such as Sonny Day and Mike Watt who both presented at Look Hear 2010.
